A reunion of the classes of the 1960's was held on September 26th at Giant City State Park south of Carbondale.  Fifteen alumni and guests attended as well as Dr. Paul Roth who joined the faculty of the Department of Forestry in 1964.  John Phelps, the current chair of the department and spouse Marcia, also attended.  It was a great day for the reunion and a great day to be outdoors.  The reunion began at 10:00am, a BBQ was held at 12:00 noon, and this was followed by some reminiscing and some very good stories about the "old" days at SIUC.  Guests came from as close as Murphysboro, IL and as far away as Corvallis, OR and the British Isles.  Those at the reunion (and their class) included: David (1960) and Millie Baumgartner; John (1966) and Bonnie Gunter; Bart (1963) and Judy Thielges; John David Farquar; Rick (1968) and Vevnia Moore; Ron (1964) and Sue Hay; Glen (1966) and Sally Miller; John and Linda Dickson; Clifford Ronald Holloway (1967); Ralph C. Bower; John and Janice Carr; Don (1967) and Gail Van Ormer; Glen Campbell (1968); Sam Reasoner; and Larry Jarvinan.  Many thanks to John Gunter for a great idea and special kudos to Patti Cludray for local arrangements.

If you think that an annual reunion is a good idea, give the SIU Department of Forestry your comments.  You can either let John Phelps or Patti Cludray know.  We are planning another reunion for all classes next year (possibly late September).  One alumni suggested that we highlight a 10 year reunion for the class of 1989.  Suggestions or comments are most welcome.
